Testing a Few Things

You might possibly notice a slight cosmetic change on the blog recently. I am testing out Triggit, which got me to testing out Amazon, so thus the reason for the changes. I've probably gone a little overboard, but we'll see how it works.

Feedback is appreciated. If it's too cluttered or bothersome let me know.

Anyway, just wanted to let you all know what was going on with it.

Looks good to me.

It takes awhile to load, and I thought something bad happened to your blog.

So do you get to pick the merchandise out yourself? It definitely seems a little tailored to your individual tastes.

The Spider-Man trailer... wow, reminds me that film was the strongest of all three in terms of storytelling and structure.

Yeah, I guess it would take a while for dial-up (are you on dial-up, Scott?). I might take the video box down for the dial-uppers out there.

But yeah, you can choose a lot of it for certain. You could even put specific stuff up there or just categories you want, and I think as far as the ads go they try to match it to what they think your readers would find interesting.

It threw me off when I first loaded the page- I guess I sort of wish it wasn't so big on top.

Now, do you make any money off of this? Just genuinely curious, since I might be tempted to throw it up on my myspace or something. =)

Yeah, though I'm not sure if it's per click or per sale generated from the clicks, I haven't had a chance to really look into it. Just thought I'd give it a shot for a bit.

Yeah, I might take the video box off at least, or maybe movie it. I can make it smaller, I just didn't like it anywhere else yet.

I think everything looks good except the Amazon boxes in the midst of your posts, and the search amazon box in the lower right corner. As someone who is also trying out the Triggit tool though, from my understanding those are things you picked up separately from Amazon and are not part of Triggit, correct? I like the Triggit tool because it allows you to pick which words are relevant to your blog readers within your posts, and link those to products. You win, your readers win, and it is unobtrusive.

Yeah, the video, the ads in the posts, and the search are all stuff I added separately from Triggit. I'm really liking the way Triggit works too. And thanks for the feedback, I'll play around with it some more throughout the week to make it more aesthetically pleasing and less obtrusive!
